“How do you inspire a town to get outside & enjoy the local countryside?”

This was the challenge set by Wigan Council and a coalition of local charities & trusts working on the ‘Greenheart’ project.

The perfect engagement campaign plan would:

  • Make the people of Wigan aware of the vast green space on their doorstep.

  • Communicate the health & wellbeing benefits of being outside.

  • Motivate people to get exploring!

The impact…

In the 12 months after Greenheart launched, Wigan Council reported a 60% uptick in people’s awareness of the local green space. They also saw usage of that space increase by around 20%. Pretty neat huh?
